My Flower Pots

I love gardening. Just can't find time to have a perfectly manicured garden (alasan). i've been having this thoughts of doing these flower pots on cupcakes for quite a while.. tunggu order yg sesuai je.. and when my cousin Nurul requested me a set of cupcakes for her lecturer and classmates (she's doing presentation on How To Make Cupcakes) or is it Bake? so she wanted a 'finished product' to give out to her class (tak aci kan? order je..). anyway, here's introducing..  My Flower Pots :-)

Agar agar kering (with recipe)

As promised, here are the photos after the dried jellies. They're ready to be packed, or eaten right away:)

And, my dear friends, (ramai yg mintak recipe ni), so here's the simplest recipe i use to make these jellies:

recipe ni makcik i kat kampung yg bagi, tq incik!

1 packet sugar (1kg)

1 packet of agar2

about 'segenggam' gula batu/rock sugar (if u use the tiny processed ones, about 8 pieces)

3 cups water ( do not use more, tak jadik! i've tried)

method:

soak the agar2 for a while

boil agar2 with 3 cups water until dissolved

pour sugar and rock sugar

cook until all dissolved

pour into trays (divide into 3 or 4 trays for different colors) or moulds

put a few drops of coloring of your choice, mix

let it sit until the jelly hardened

jemur in the hot sun for about 2 days, sampai gula dah naik and keras kat atas

then cut to pieces (use the fancy crooked cutter if u have)

jemur lagi sampai betul2 kering..

Note: lapik dengan plastik, sebab jelly ni melekat2..

DO NOT use baking paper.. or else.. this is what happened:(

u can use any mould u have.. the tinier the better, lagi cepat kering..

don't forget to let me know the outcome!

Wanie asked me to do similar to kak fiza's of chiquecakes. cookie monsters with oreo biscuits and a different kind of 'fur' for big bird. i'm glad Wanie was happy with the outcome:) sebab macam mana nak tiru pun, sure takkan sama dengan yg ori kan..

one thing, kalau nak tiru org lain punya, especially yg terror2 ni, ade satu mcm pressure la pulak..

Teddy Bear Jelly

Another version of my 'agar agar kering'.. teddies!!!

it is a bit tricky to do.. especially to get the teddies out of their moulds.. ade yg degil! banyak jugak yg pecah awal2 tu.. bile dah tau teknik yg betul, baru boleh keluarkan dengan kemas.

sayang nak makan! hihi..
but sadly, a few of them dah 'selamat' masuk perut my son!

i will post the dried versions later, kay.. till then, ta-ta!

My Not-So-Art Art :-)

These were done quite sometime ago.. noticed the date was 9/6/2009. i was bored but inspired, so mulalah menconteng2 gambar cupcakes.. then my son tengok yg i dah lukis tu, dia pun nak satu for himself.. he just wanted to play with the water colors.. hence the similar drawing, cuma yg bawah tu dia lah painter:). turned out to be such a fun looking piece of.. um.. art?? well, if anything haindpainted is qualified as an art, i guess these were qualified too! ha ha...

look at the imperfections. kids dont bother to be perfect. they just be. that's the lesson i learnt from little Imran.

i love colors. red, green, yellow, pink, black, white, blue, orange, indigo, violet. i love them all. they have their own characters and they seem to speak through their own language. to each other. to us.

Big Boy's Toy

We had a session of food photography. Needless to say, my cupcakes got all the attention.
I so want to be THE cupcake, but, i guess i have to grow yellow hair on my face and implant a big orange nose first. bleeeyyyyhhhhhh..

Life's Little Things

It was a planned short trip to Toy's R Us with my kiddo, Imran. His dad would be out for the whole day to a wedding, so i thought, hey, let's go out together, eat some ice-cream, see some movies, play some legos and have some fun! ok--lets be realistic.. :-P we only had about 2 hours, i know ToysRUs alone will take more than 1 hour.. so.. movie, shopping, jalan2, will have to wait.
off we went.. a short 20 minutes drive to Subang Parade.

to my delight, there was a small flea market (or so), stalls lining along the SP corridoor.. Okay, imran, TRU can wait.. let's check out the stalls first. he didnt complaint coz there were a few stalls selling toys along the way. so, ibu boleh cuci mata, dia pun cuci mata jugak..

i spotted a stall selling beads and bangles, and bought this adorable phone strap for my dear friend as a gift for her birthday. i know her, and i 100% know she'll love this! true enough, when i gave her this, she was beaming with joy :-D



next to the stall, there was a nice lady selling handmade jewelry. they are oh so so pretty! and i had to have them all!.. ha ha.. unfortunately, i came to my senses and bought one only *sob

aren't they the prettiest? a set of coach dangling bracelet. i particularly like the high-heeled and the handbag. Nope, i love them all!!



as for mr imran, look at him all 'rambang mata' with the toys.. mm.. kids.. can't get enough of toys!

..and at last, this is his choice! phew.. nasib baik dia tak ambik yg berharga beratus2 tu...

or else, i'll transform into a carrot.

Cupcake Earings

I don't have cupcakes photos for you today, but.. i want to share these cute adorable rase mcm nak gigit, pair of earings i bought the other day. they actually cost me rm10 for 3 of them!! dirt cheap another pair is on it's way to it's new owner in Aussie. A present for my sister there :-)
