I know i've been quite..

Alhamdulillah.. i'm 12 weeks pregnant now... EDD 13th August sapa bday hari sama angkat tangan! :) it was a surprise yg takdelah surpise sgt... nak cerita kat sini pun malu.. so let's leave all the details behind and look forward to a healthy pregnancy ahead! Kali ni lain sikit dari my previous pregnancies... kali ni petang je mual.. tak sampai muntah, nasib baik.. but i have no appetite for rice.. at all.. cuma paksa diri makan jgkla nasik.. i was craving for this particular honey melon sold at MBG (kedai buah Money Back Guarantee tu...).. bought one melon for rm11+.. sehari jek habis, then pegi tesco and found the same melon for rm5+ jek! lagi manis plak tu... itu jelah so far..

I'm sorry for not being able to take order for the meantime.. larat tu larat.. cuma malas sikiiiitttt je.. hihi.. i want to rest.. pulak tu jenis yg mual belah petang.. pagi gosok gigi dengan seronok je... petang, bau kantin pon dah lari jauh2!

So, yay! Pls pray for me, i will surely kena deliver via ceaserian jugak this time coz previous 2 pun ikut tingkap.. nevermind.. as long as i dont experience the horror mcm masa faaeq dulu dahla.. ubat bius x sampai habis sebab wayar terbelit kat blakang, i can feel the blade potong perut and doc jahit kulit satu2.. i told the doc i was in pain, dia kata i senggugut... so stupid kan? enough said.

anyway... i'm looking fwd to a healthy pregnancy.. tak sabar nak tunggu baby kicking in tummy.. all moms out there sure pernah rasa.. priceless experience kan? Take cara ya! I'll write again... well, lets hope, soon! :)

So what have u been up to? I have no new stories... ade, tapi peram dulu lah... hey that choc cake recipe i promised to put up masih belum tulis lagi.. Hummingbird Bakery cookbook tu asyik tertinggal jek kat rumah... My SIL who is waiting for her SPM results is going to US under an exchange student program.. what a great opportunity.. She's going this coming Tuesday, for 6 whole months! Duduk dengan foster parents (omputeh) kat sana and she'll go to High School there.. Tomah High to be exact, in Wisconsin. Congrats Adik! Kak Ina doakan selamat pergi dan balik.. ambik seberapa byk pengalaman yg berharga di sana... must be challeging to live with new people and new environment (it's winter now.. brrr), but it's such a great chance to be independant and explore so many thing. All the best! I know u'll have loads of fun there! US is the best country i've lived so far! ceh mcm banyak je duduk sana sini.. haha.. apa2 pun of cos la Malaysia tetap di hati ku.. jgn rindu masak lemak potai dah ler adik...

Tq Atin! She gave me some sketches of cats that she likes... i chose the simpler ones and tried to draw.. i'm not a cat lover but my sister is.. i remembered she requested a kitty for getting 5As in UPSR.. my dad had to agree coz he promised her she can request anything if she gets all As.. hahaha... The cat named Pussy (ya, i know) had to be given away when she was going to boarding school in Form 4...

Sally asked me how do i deal with difficult customers.. well, to be honest (and i'm so thankful for this), i never had one! believe it or not, my customers (so far) are wonderful!.. many of whom had ordered from me so many times and occasions.. sampai kdg2 tak boleh nak decline sebab rase bersalah.. if i decline an order it was purely because i was not available at that time, (usually on vacation or balik kg), or simply because i dont feel like doing it. and sometimes because they request to deliver (someone asked me to mail the cupcakes to JB, Penang, and London... hoho.... impossible tau!) .. BUT... i've had some not-so-nice remarks from those i declined their order... one that i remember till today was "u tak nak duit ke?" wahh.... i didnt say anything.. but in my head i was saying, "WHATEVER!"

Tq Burn!

Let me compile a list on how to avoid difficult customers.. before they become difficult, let's see....

1. I usually want my customers to confirm their order earliest possible.. preferably about 1-2 weeks in advance... i require full payment to confirm an order.. this way, we know they're serious. and any conversations after the payment is considered valid, because they've already paid for it.. taknak nanti dah bagi design, kita pun dah penat pk nak buat mcm mana, nak bubuh bunga kecik ke besar ke, nak tulisan cursive ke Times New Roman ke.. tup tup 3 hari sebelum,dia cancel order. Oh nooo....

2. It's good that u ask them everything! but usually if a customer says it's up to u nak buat mcm mana, then i know he/she is not too picky.. cuma nak yg cantik jela.. i'll do my best then to make pretty cupcakes :)

3. But... pretty is in the eyes of the beholder... so usually i will ask what is his/her fav color.. at least i know where to start

4. Dont give too many options.. my limit my cupcake size to 2oz only, and 2 flavors only (vanilla n choc).. so org tak pening sgt la nak pilih.. plus i dont have to stock too many things at home :)

5. If what the customer request is beyond what you can do, or capable of doing, .. (mcm cupcake Atin tula..., she asked me to draw cats.. i dont know how to draw cats!) just tell them... and ask them to consider other design.. or else u'll dissappoint them.. In Atin's case, i ask her to google some simple drawings of cats that she liked.. she gave me a few, i said i will atempt to draw maybe one or two.. she said ok.. then legalah sikit kan... kalau tak, i takleh tido malam pk camne nak lukis kucing.. (before this pernah lukis tapi tak jadi kucing, jadi urm... cacat)

7. Sometimes there are a few who are a bit 'specific'... nak mcm ni, nak mcm tu.. but for me that's normal coz they paid for my cupcakes.. maybe for some it's not a large sum of money, rm50, rm70.. but believe me, some people would wait for their payday to pay me up.. so i know it is something they saved up for... i dont mind at all to do what they ask me. I know almost all home bakers out there do the same.. we'll try to do our best to fulfil what customers want.. but of course it comes with a price :D

6. I am not perfect at all.. i sometimes missed out writings that i'm supposed to put on the cupcakes.. sometimes the colors are off, sometimes the design is not up to what my customer's requested.. So far apologies accepted.. and I am so grateful for that. Maybe ade je yg tak puas hati tp tak bgtau.. i'm grateful for that too.. hihi... so far, all i can say is i'm very lucky!

Hi all! Photo taken at Boh Plantation Cameron Highlands... i went there on a working trip, thus not so many photos of sightseeing.. and Cameron asyik hujan je... i spent most of the time in the hotel's conference room, my husband usually just stayed indoor with faaeq.. keluar pun sekali2 je ambik angin.. asyik hujan je.. not a good time to go to CH.. plus school holidays.. we always avoid any trips during school holidays! haha... masa ni faaeq marah sebab nak lari2 kat tepi tu... ade gaung la.. takut nak lepas dia.. so pegang dia ketat2, marah lah member... :P

Faaeq is examining my teeth! hahaha... ade lubang tak gigi ibu? :P

It's now prawn season in Trg.. my dad bought this for rm75 per kg... habis udang kat pasar my dad borong.. haha.. sekarang ni nelayan dibenarkan tangkap udang di laut.. so byk udang segar kat pasar.. bess bess... ade bwk balik stok kat sini.. hari2 makan udang ya...

We visited my aunt who is not well in Dungun.. yang baju hijau tu my cousin's boy.. and look at imran... with my phone! now u know why i take so long to reply your messages! the boy in red shirt is a neighbor.

Happy New Year and the Best Brownies!

It's still not too late to wish you all a HAPPY New Year 2012! Yiihuuu... another year another challeges... it's all good.... all good.. i'allah... :) My new year resolutions? Well, i usually dont have any.. hahaha... just embrace each new day given to us and make the best of it.. that's just it, i guess.. i've been struggling to understand Faaeq for the past 2 years... i think now i understand him better... after many trips to the therapies sessions... countless tantrums, neverending hopes to hear him talk.. i'm positive things will be much better this year.. and he will improve a lot from time to time... Imran has been a great inspiration to him... My baby Imran is in Standard 2 this year. How time flies... Soon he'll ask for his first motorbike and out chasing girls! Hahaha..

I am so glad to have this blog.. where i can share my stories... share recipes i tried (not as many as i would love to, but.. oklah ye dak).. i've met many inspirational people online.. some i have the chance to meet in person, some still 'terapung di alam maya'... waiting to make connections... hahaha.. nevermind, someday we shall meet when the time comes.. and also, i've had so much fun doing classes and meeting all who came.. who still keep in touch with me.. sgt best!

Ok, i have promised AyaOth on Instagram so long, to post this recipe.. So here it goes. I made this so many times already, it's my fav brownies, simple and satisfies my craving for brownies.. it's moist and gooey (be careful not to overbake or else it'll be dry.. and be careful not to overmix or else the texture will be cakey--macam cake instead of macam brownies)

Hershey's Best Brownies

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter or margarine (melt in microwave, about 1 1/2 minutes on high)
• 3/4 cup cocoa powder

• 1 cup plain flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups sugar (it's ok, just indulge the sweetness!)

• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 4 eggs

How-to:

1. First mix all the dry ingredients including the sugar mix so the cocoa is well incorporated.

2. Add the melted butter lightly mix just a few times. (just use yr hand whisk or wooden spoon)

3. Then add all the eggs and vanilla at once, mix a few times more until combined. Do not overmix.

4. Pour into yr baking tray, bake, cool completely, cut into squares, ENJOY!

Hi friends!! We've arrived in Terengganu safely... alhamdulillah.. even with an 'injured' car, nasib baik ok je bawak sampai sini..from Cameron Highland we drove to Gua Musang, then thru Felda Aring, tasik Kenyir and some other places in between yg i pun x pernah tau kewujudan.. and lastly.. KT! Thanks to GPS, what a wonderful innovation!

*imran at 3 1/2 old-- baru dpt adik faaeq!

Imran was so eager to show us all his 'findings'.. sampai2 je terus ajak pergi pantai.. tunjuk air laut yg bergelora dan pantai yg dah kena makan dengan ombak ganas... skrg musim tengkujuh di sini, tapi semlm and hari ni hujan sekejap2 je.. x lebat.. mendung je.. very nice weather.. makes me want to curl in bed all day long! hehe..

We'll be sending our car to workshop tomorrow.. cermin belakang kena order from KL.. takde stok.. but the wait is reasonable la, 1 day jek.. so we decided to just have the workshop to do it for us... then bonnet belakang tu kena ketuk.. cat x sempat. Do u know if a motorbike (or a public bus, taxi, official car) hit u, no matter sapa salah, u cant claim their insurance? yup.. i just know that when this happen... so even in the police report moto tu yg salah (kita dah bagi signal nak ke kanan pun dia still langar kita, dr belakang lagi), still, we cant claim his insurance... so, ape lagi.... $$$ terbangla.. panjang cerita... mintak dgn bapak dia pun buat2 tak faham je.. suh claim insurance jugak.. soooo...... ape boleh buat..

Pagi tadi i sms my husband, "hari ni kan kita kawin? 21 dec? 2001?"... hahaha.. punyerlah kan.. sampai anniversary sendiri pun x ingat... the truth is, we never celebrated our anniversary.. we dont even mark it on our calender for any celebration.. nope.. and some years (well, most of the years kot) the date will just pass by without even us remembering it as our anniversary..

Kebetulan pulak hari ni ingat.. dan kebetulan pula, this year, genap 10 tahun. So i want to mark the date here.. i wanna say to him... "i love you so much, thank you, words can never say enough.. u complete me!"

It's been almost a week since my last post! huhu.... i have so many things going on at work, sorry peeps! Today I learn a new word - 'stimming'

Lately Faaeq mmg susah nak tidur.. susah maksud saya, dia akan susah nak diam and lelapkan diri... lampu dah lama tutup pun dia still nak lompat dan jerit2 sambil tergelak-gelak... mmg ni typical autistic behavior.. 'laughing excessively'... dulu masa mula2 dia gelak2 camni kitorg mmg jadi takut.. ingatkan dia kena 'kacau' ke ape kan... so adelah kitorg usahan pergi mintak air doa dengan Darul Syifa' (Bangi) dan alhamdulillah sebenarnya berkesan jugak untuk menjadikan dia tenang sikit.. saya percaya, bacaan ayat2 al-quran dan doa mmg berkesan untuk anak2.. itu pasti..sedangkan untuk kita yg 'tua' ni pun kalau kita amalkan, terbukti berkesan kan..

Ade a few yg email sy ttg autism nie.. sebenarnya sy pun tak banyak pengetahuan ttg autism.. masih banyak mencari jawapan dan banyak persoalan.. yg saya boleh share, mcm mana sy 'detect' faaeq ni autistic, dan apa yg saya buat untuk mendapatkan bantuan dr hospital.. selain terapi2 'formal' yg saya bawa faaeq di hospital, ada juga kaedah2 'alternatif' yg kami cuba utk faaeq.. semua yang saya dan suami mampu, kitorg akan cuba.. terima kasih kpd semua yg berikan saya cadangan dan nasihat.. tak terbalas rasanya...

Mmg susah nak diagnose betul ke tak budak tu autism ataupun tu mmg 'perangai' dia.. sebenarnya sekarang ni ramai ibubapa yg cepat nak labelkan anak dia autism kalau dia hyper, ataupun lambat bercakap.. what i can say is trust yr insticts and read a lot... skrg ni mudah, ade internet semua info di hujung jari je.. cuma kena pandai pilih info yg sesuai.. kdg2 kita bw anak ke doktor untuk dapatkan jawapan, tp doktor pun tak dapat memberikan jawapan yg pasti kpd kita.. sebab saya rase doktor pun susah nak memberikan 'label' kpd anak kita sebenarnya... silap label, naye dia.. kan? hehe..

Utk yg masih tercari2 jawapan, ni ade a few symptoms yg boleh dijadikan guideline.. taken here.

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) varies widely in severity and symptoms and may go unrecognized, especially in mildly affected children.

Very early indicators that require evaluation by an expert include: (i note faaeq's development)
1. no babbling or pointing by age 1 (faaeq was babbling but no pointing)
2. no single words by 16 months or two-word phrases by age 2 (he used to say 'bu' for ibu, can wave goodbye, said 'akit' when he fell but it all sort of 'lost' when he grows older)
3. no response to name (yes)
4. loss of language or social skills (yup, he 'lost' his social skill)
5. poor eye contact (yes)
6. excessive lining up of toys or objects (faaeq shows this at a later stage, when he was about 2YO but just for a short period of time)
7. no smiling or social responsiveness. (faaeq is always smiling!)

Later indicators include:
1. impaired ability to make friends with peers
2. impaired ability to initiate or sustain a conversation with others
3. absence or impairment of imaginative and social play
4. stereotyped, repetitive, or unusual use of language
5. restricted patterns of interest that are abnormal in intensity or focus
6. preoccupation with certain objects or subjects
7. inflexible adherence to specific routines or rituals.
*faaeq has almost all of the above symptoms.. erkkk!

At earlier stage , mmg faaeq mcm budak2 lain.. sama je.. but since dia ada abang, we sort of compare him (his development) with imran.. itu yg mula syak something wrong.. we have been to several doctors who dissmiss anything wrong with him, saying he might be 'just' a lil bit late.. well..

Wookeh, about that stimming... told you he has difficulities sleeping kan.. one thing he'll do before he sleeps, he'll make noises non-stop! imagine at 12midnite, he's still 'talking to himself'.. making all sorts of noise.. we were already so tired and sleepy, so tak larat nak layan dia!... turned out that is called 'stimming'.. look at the definition;

“Stimming” (v) or “Stim” (n): behaviors that are self-stimulatory/stimulate one’s senses. Some “stims” may serve a regulatory function (calming, increasing concentration, or shutting out an overwhelming sound), such as waving a string, talking to self, or humming.

There are so many verbs, nouns and adjectives to describe their behaviors, to know more, read this link.

Pretty interesting huh? At least for me, mmg menarik :)
Now i know why he makes those sounds.. just to calm himself.. sian dia :(

Crunchy Apple Cinnamon Cake
Recipe by yours truly

(A)
2 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder (u can omit if u dont like cinnamon)
* sift together, set aside

(B)
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar (use fine sugar, caster sugar or gula halus Prai)
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk (fresh milk/ full cream milk/ milk powder mixed into 1/2 cup water.. anything will do)

4 apples (any kind will do) peeled and cut into small pieces
Light brown sugar (fine or coarse, i use coarse) for drizzling on top of the cake

1. Sift all A ingredients,set aside
2. Cream butter and sugar using a mixer, add vanilla essence, then add eggs one at a time. Mix well in between eggs. (the dough will curdle, dont worry about that!)
3. Add milk, fold
4. Add all A ingredients, fold lightly until all well mixed
5. Fold in HALF of yr apples
6. Put in baking tray.. i used one loaf tin and one 6 inch square tin.
7. Put another half of yr apples, drizzle with brown sugar
8. Bake.. i bake mine at 160deg, about 40 mins. I put all two tins in one go. haha.... nasib baik ok :P

It's crunchy on top coz of the sugar and apples, and some cruncy apple pieces in the cake, it smells good coz of the cinnamon... ahhh...

My drama king got his haircut last weekend.. the usual drama, but this time less :) i think he got used to it already.. or maybe coz he's bigger now.. our speech therapist (we had an appoinment last wednesday) said he improved a lot on his eye contact and is cooperating very well.. he is beginning to understand instructions, more playful and definately less tantrums.. the other day he came to me saying "cu, cu cu cu c".. and i said, Faaeq nak susu ya... mana botol? ambik botol.. and off he went to the sofa where he left his empty milk bottle, took the bottle and gave it to me! How about that... :))) Another incident which made me strongly believe that he understands was when we were getting ready to bed, he was lying on the bed playing with my phone, watching Adele, Taylor Swift, nasyid, Asma ul-Husna and others.. I went in the room telling my husband, "ni susu faaeq sorok sini tau". I put the bottle at one corner of the bed, mmg tersorok la.. x nampak.. plus the room was already dark.. after a while, he got off the bed, went straight to the place where i hid the bottle, took it and casually drank it on the bed!

..and my talkative imran is not around.. he's in Rembau with his Atuk and Wan.. cuti sekolah, a great bonding time with grandparents. Next week my dad will come to fetch him to Terengganu pulak.. the house is quite.. i miss him so much.. i didnt even throw away his origami lying all around the hs.. when he's around, pantang nampak atas lantai mesti suruh dia buang.. he'll do so many origamis and will leave the papers lying around.. mm... but i know he's having a good time, so that's ok. i asked him, do u miss me, he said, ingat ibu bila nak tido.. takde org nak cerita.. :(

Puan Nora ordered this for her daughter who's sitting for her SPM... peminat tegar 'Tokio Hotel', a band group.. i never heard of this group.. i guess i dah ketinggalan zaman la.. hahahaha... anyway, sportinglah Kak Nora! Some photos taken at a park in Cyberjaya last week.. nice place, nice playground.. when faaeq was lying on the ground people look at me like i'm a bad mom... well, who cares... i dont care.. they dont know faaeq is autistic.. he likes rough surfaces. he sure has sensory issues big time! the other day he painted all his fingernails red! and last night, blue! adussss... mcm pakai cat kuku.. pengsan ibu!

It was awesome! Except for the extra winding road... which made my head dizzy and my stomach seriously ill... (yeah.. i had to take 2 panadol actifast, baru ok.. huhu!)... the trip was mainly for my husband and his friends to capture the wild birds, by photos of course! ... they chose a resort--Jelai Resort because it's well-known among bird watchers.. met an American with his binoculars there saying it's less stressful just to watch them rather than taking their photos! haha.. agreed!

This was before the one-way street up to the place.. when we were here before (that was about urm... 3 years back maybe), there was a landslide at another road which is for going down. So the road was closed for quite some time.. and the only way going up had to be alternate going up and going down. So it's one hour for going up, and the next hour going down.. if u're here at the wrong hour, u have to wait another hour until it's opened for u to go up! When I stayed in Rasa (a small town nearby, i was working there), we frequently go here, and we even memorized what hour is it to go up.. now, the road is fixed so u can go up anytime u wish.. the road is soooo crooked.. i warn u! bring a long yr minyak yuyi! haha. These photos was when hubby had to take a break before his turn to drive.. i drove half way coz he was sleepy. Sampai sini dia pening2 lalat.. I was ok coz i drove.. then when i became the passenger... i pulak yg kaput!

It was misty.. sgt berkabus.. sangat ber'awan'.. not too cold.. the hotel manager was really kind.. he took the extra miles to entertain his guests.. he was the one who got the panadol for me when my husband told him i pening.. he made coffee to serve his guests at midnite.. shared infos on those rare birds.. The resort was well maintained, clean with basic amnenities but the rooms and furniture are old.. they really need to be replaced.. i later leant that the place is owned by Pahang's State govmnt.. the manager is the only staff there... he has his family to help him out.. together they managed it all.. from room service, cleaning, managing.. i think budjet is the constraint.. sayang jugakla coz the resort is a great place for bird lovers..

That morning hubby woke up at 6.30am to get his camera ready .. standby.. for the birds.. and i took the opportunity to get close and personal with.. bugs! hahaha.. i hate bugs by the way. But they're lovely.. Faizal, patut pinjam lense macro ko lah... hehehe.. xpelah.. kalau nampak bulu2 kaki kumbang tu lagi kuat aku menjerit kot! Faaeq was still asleep.. so i had my time to capture some shots.. not birds.. for birds.. i leave it to the pros la...:P

That big black beetles made me srceam.. a bit. There were so many odd looking bugs here and there.. no wonder birds come here.. they feed on these bugs.. and worms.. tiny white worms everywhere... yikes!

Food was no problem at all.. there are many shops and restaurants nearby.. we had nasi lemak that morning.. with goreng keledek.. panas2.. yummy! Faaeq had his nasi lemak.. siap tambah lagi... he eats on his own now.. but the floor was full of nasik lemak too... sorry lah tuan kedai.

Imran tried the small superbike for rent.. it's rm5 for 5 minutes ride.. he had so much fun.. but afterwards complaint his hands hurt.. of too much gripping the handles.. i knew he was nervous! control je.. hahaha.. i was 'coaching' him from the side like a weird lady. kahkahkah... org tengok mesti kata, ape la.. mak dia pulak yg excited lebih.

Then off to the Paddock.. as promised, imran had his horse ride. We decided to take a ride together. me? i freaked out..! no... horse riding is not for me.. it's rm8 for and adult and a child to ride together.. rm4 (or rm5?) for one child to ride alone.. under supervision of the man in charge (who was busy on the phone when we rode!)

The place is calm and serene...if u want to come and relax, santai2.. this is a perfect place, plus it's not too far from home :)

There's archery too if u want to try.. not sure how much they charge coz we didnt go near.. that bubble is rm3 per bottle.. bought for faaeq actually!

bugs everywhere...

some shots by my husband.. there were beautiful and rare birds around.. some are seasonal.. but they ere too fast to dissappear.. with imran running here and there.. lagi ler susah.. tension photographers tu.. hehe..

if i can fly like a bird.. i'll fly to the highest branch and watch the world goes by..

Sebelum ape2 meh tayang hasil kerja keras dulu... hehehe

Sometimes I'll put up what i want to cook for dinner on my fb status.. coz it'll be like a target i have to achieve.. hehe.. kadang2la.. biler ade mood... when it's on print, it's easier for me to visualize it, and i'll try as much as i can to do it..

We've been talking about chicken roast for a while... i said to hubby, let's do it sometime! Nak yg malaysian style ke yg ompteh punye style? he said, 'omputeh la..'... yg marinade dengan serai bagai tu dah biase buat.. yg ni, first time i do it from scratch!. and i'm so ashamed of myself... it's so so easy... u should try it sometime..

I got this book by Jamie Oliver for quite sometime.. havent had the time to browse thru until recently.. cookbooks have been my 'bedtime books' for some time now.. that's the only time i have the time for myself, while Faaeq jumping around and Imran busy telling me his stories of the day.. Got this book at the Big Bad Wolf booksale for rm25 instead of the normal price which is almost 40usd.. well, for a hard cover book, that's a real deal! They also had Nigella and Ramsay.. but i decided it's gonna be Oliver coz i liked the front page! haha.. shallow me.. :P

So yesterday after work, while waiting for imran's piano class to finish, i went to a nearby Giant to get the stuff... as usual, Jamie's got so many exotic ingredients in his roast.. but i noticed all the 'basic' ingredients are there.. always almost the same.. so i gave it a try..

This is the recipe.. i would say, inspired by the man :)

Simple Roast Chicken.. that taste so good!

1. Lemon*
2. Salt and pepper*
3. Thyme or rosemary (dried or fresh, either way will work--KG, i know u hv fresh rosemary in the kitchen!)
4. Garlic (unpeeled)
5. Olive oil
6. About 1 tablespoon butter
7. 1 large onion-sliced
* i found Lemon and pepper seasoning by McCormick (this cost rm10.90 at giant). I used this. short cut!

Clean the chicken, drizzle olive oil on yr roasting pan, smear thyme all over and then place the unpeeled garlic, butter and onion. Place the chicken, coat with lemon juice and zest (if u're using fresh ones), salt and pepper (the seasoning has lemon, salt and pepper altogether, senang!). Drizzle more olive oil on the chicken. Roast, for my oven, i roast it for 1 hour, api atas bawah, at 180C.

U can also add broccoli, carrots, potatoes... whatever u have in the kitchen.. i was out of stock.. ade kangkung je.. hahaha...

It's good. Percayalah.

Devil's Food Choc Cake and Carrot Cake..

DFCC is soft, moist and chocolatey.

Carrot cake is moist, with cruncy walnut bits, the pineapple chunks compliment the cinnamon and nutmeg.. not too much, not too strong... love it! Both cakes were before topped with cream cheese.. baked this for Raya Korban hr tu.. one was ordered by my cousin Diyana.

How to... choose your cupcake design.

Selalu jugak yg order cupcakes ni akan rambang mata bila nak pilih design.. sebab banyak design cupcakes kalau google... mcm2 ade.. banyak yg cantik, banyak yg sesuai..

So macam mana nak pilih design untuk hantaran (pertunangan atau kawin) yg tepat? Ni pendapat saya.. (fokus hanya untuk cupcakes)

1. Cupcakes untuk hantaran tak semestinya mengikut tema warna 100%... contoh kalau tema wedding merah darah nyamuk, tak perlulah cupcakes, kotak, riben semuanya warna sama.. kotak boleh dihias dengan warna tema, tapi biarlah cupcakes warna yg berlainan (tapi masih matching).. contoh warna matching; pink, cream, putih, brown... semua lah matching!

2. K.I.S.S; Keep It Simple Stupid! Saya mmg sukakan yg simple.. kalau design terlalu sarat, letak dlm kotak tak menonjol.. tapi ade juga design yg sarat tapi cantik. Mmm.. bergantung kpd design la kot.. tapi saya suke yg simple... and enhance the names (kalau nak letak nama). kalau takde nama pun sweet jugak, biasenya cantik kalau semua cupcakes ade bunga yg sama.

3. Flavor, jangan pening2 pilih flavor.. sebab tu sy ade 2 je.. choc and vanilla oreo.. sebab dua tu je yg sy rase bess and versatile.. yg exotic mcm green tea, mungkin segelintir je yg suke, macam saya. (suke sgt green tea donut!). Bear in mind, biasenya cupcakes ni akan diserbu oleh kanak2 bila dah habis majlis.. budak2 ni takde nak belek2 tengok bunga ke pelangi ke.. semua NGAPP je... :D

4. Bila nampak satu design yg berkenan, stick to that. Pengantin, u have so many other things to think about.. buang karan je pening2 dengan cupcakes.. hehe

5. Kalau nak bagi hadiah untuk kawan kawin/tunang, kasik personally to the couple.. kalau passkan kat mak/ayah/abang/kakak dia, ade harapan cupcakes tu akan 'hilang' secara magik.

6. I personally think bagi/sponsor cupcakes akan membuatkan kawan/sepupu awak ingat hadiah awak sampai bila2.. (compared to bagi cawan sedozen)

7. Think out of the box. Instead of design yg dah ade kat internet, personalized yr design. suggestkan kpd pembuat cupcakes mcm saya (sebab saya pun dah kering idea.. haha)

8. Kalau takde idea, just say 'saya serahkan kpd u design tu'.. maybe boleh kasik yr fav colors or some sample design yg u suke.. tp jgn cakap tiru exactly 100% mcm tu.. org2 mcm saya, akan rase mcm 'tak bess' kalau camtu... sebab mmg takkan dpt tiru 100%... mana ade barang tiruan yg sama 100% mcm ori, tul tak?

9. Kalau cupcakes tu nak dibawa jauh (balik kg ke, naik flight ke), choose simple design. Kalau bunga yg besar2 and penuh, ade harapan bila sampai nanti bunga tu akan bertukar (sekali lagi secara magik) menjadi leper. Better to have a perfect condition box with simple design then elaborated design buat all smudged, kan?

10. ....it's really up to u!

I hope the list will help u decide.. or at least give u some idea... ataupun lebih memeningkan. Oppss!

Ila, requested her combination.... with colors chosen by me.. mula2 Ila nak yg menyerlah, then nak pastel.. i chose pastel.. but i should've used a deeper color for the writings... sorry about that Ila.. Ila once came to my cupcake class.. Ila ni ade bakat ni.. cuma x sempat nak buat sebab dia sedang buat masters dia..

Red Roses..

Tq Halimah.. she requested for these red roses, sebab pengantin mmg suke sgt merah katanya.. hrp2 cukup merah mcm yg dia nak... tricky jugak nak achieve 'bright red'.. sapa yg buat buttercream ke fondant ke mesti tau :)

Mixed vanilla oreo and choc moist cupcakes, topped with fresh strawberries.. susah nak jumpa strawberries skrg... sebab winter kan.. US mmg takde lah.. these were from Australia.. maybe it's the season there.. my SIL is picking strawberries now as her part time job.. skrg tgh cuti semester.. bile balik kang bwk byk2 nanti kita buat cupcakes camni.. hihi

Old photo, Halimah liked this design.. i did this quite some time ago.. she requested similar ones with different colors.. i chose pastel colors for her.. i really like these combo; baby blue, peach and light yellow. I have another set done in these colors.. pics tomorrow :)

I took this photo indoor, in my kitchen.. not enough sunlight.. masa tu dah hujan.. xleh nak snap kat luar... taking photos is a task too you know.. hv to get all the props outside, put the cupcakes/cakes.. snap snap snap... if only i have a good amount of sunlight in my kitchen....

Staying in a boarding school for 5 years, I have so many great memories and lessons in life learnt from there.... if u've ever entered a boarding school too, i'm sure u know all about 'kakak angkat', petsist, toing la macam2la... hehehe... all that reduce to one single aim, to have someone to 'look up to', or to depend on if we have crisis, someone to show us all the 'fun' being in a dormitory.. teenagers.. kan mcm2 hal... hehe.. awal2 masuk Form 1, we were 'assigned' to one 'sister'.. macam kakak angkat la.. we have to go find her and get to know her.. she'll guide us serba sedikit on 'asrama life', bring us to our weekly 'wayang' (back then we had a projector, tengok movies kat dinding blok sekolah! Ingat tak Chucky? We screamed our lungs out masa Chucky hidup semula!--- well, those younger generations maybe tak 'kenal' kot Chucky).. haha

Eeta was my 'sweetheart' back then... she's my classmate, one of my best friends... paling ingat... when i had chicken pox, masa tu form 3... i had to be quarantined, Eeta came to stay with me in the sick bay, HOPING to get infected so she could have a long MC too! hahaha... i remembered she bought a bar of chocolate and shared that with me, hoping to catch the virus. It didnt work tho. haha.. the next day my dad came and fetch me home.. i had a good (but painful) 2-week break :P

Yeah.. i miss my school. i miss my bestfriends.. they're all busy people now. *sigh

So thanks Eeta.. didnt get to meet u when i send this.. (sent these to her mom's place) Hopefully in the near future, eh?! and i owe u a red velvet cake ok!

Rainbow Cake ♪

So here're the recipe I used... The cake is light and moist, very soft.. a good white cake recipe adapted from Wisk Kid. After Shaleen attempted it, I was confident this is the recipe to try! :)

Rainbow Cake
Adapted from Whisk Kid

3 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
5 egg whites (i used 6 grade C eggs)
2 tsp vanilla essence
1 1/2 cup milk

1. Sieve together all the dry ingredients and set aside.

2. Cream the butter and sugar until white and fluffy. Add egg whites gradually, continue mixing at low speed.

3. Add in vanilla essence.

4. Mix in the flour mixture and the milk alternately (F-M-F-M-F). Divide the batter into 7 bowls, tint according to your preference. (My colors: Violet, Blue, Green, Yello, Orange, Pink, Red)

5. Bake each layer in 8 inch pan, about 8 minutes (my oven's temp: 160C)

6. Remove from the oven, let it cool completely.

7. Cover with your preferred frosting.

This time I frost the cake using my usual buttercream icing I used for my cupcakes. Since there are 7 layers altogether, the cake is a bit too sweet for my liking. The cake itself is perfect, but with the amount of frosting, of course it's sweet! Kids would love this, but next time around I'll use white chocolate ganache instead so everyone will eat it guilt-free. haha

The cake is quite tall... and heavy! Definately a great party cake, anytime.. love it!

We celebrated at my MIL's place in Rembau, the night before Aidiladha.. Faaeq shared his birthday cake with my Mak Teh, her birthday was on 3rd Nov.. Faaeq's on 4th.

So I baked a rainbow cake for my boy :)

Friday night, we went to Alamanda to treat him at The Chicken Rice Shop... he finished an adult portion of the chic rice plus extra chicken.. good for him! Went back happy and full, ready for bed :)

Hope u girls had a great break.. I hope it's not too late to wish you Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha.. Those who had the chance to perform their Hajj are the luckiest! I'm sure all of us have our portion of 'korban' in our own might.. whatever it is, i'm sure there'll be an equal portion of rewards thereafter.. Amin.

Of Park, PECS and GFCF

Yesterday was Faaeq's appoinment with his speech therapist at HUKM. We reached quite early, so my husband stopped at the park nearby, Tasik Permaisuri Cheras Playground. It is such a lovely place.. I was impressed with the extended version of the play area.. the swing, the climb, the hanging bridge... it's almost the same as Occupational Therapy's room, only larger! Much much bigger lah... best! Faaeq macam rambang mata nak main mana satu.. I especially love the swing.. Back when we were in Sydney, almost all parks there have this kind of swing... it covers 'around' the body instead of just a flat piece of rubber for the bum! hehe... I tried to put Faaeq in it.. he was hesitant at first.. macam takut je... and when i swing it, lagi ler dia takut.. he wanted to get out of it but i ignored. but after a while he seems to like it.. but still, he was not comfortable to have the strap all around his body... bila angkat dia keluar, dia mcm nak naik lagi.. tapi lari lari... ade budak lain nak naik, marah pulak... macam buai tu dia punye :P

Wei Li (Faaeq's speech therapist at HUKM) tried once again a technique called PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). PECS is basically a way to communicate, or an aid to communicate thru pictures. A simple explaination would be Faaeq's case lah... Faaeq tak boleh cakap lagi kan.. xde speech.. so saya akan sediakan beberapa gambar (botol susu, mandi, air, dll).. bila dia nak minum susu, dia akan ambil gambar botol susu and bagi saya.. so saya faham lah yg dia nak susu :) Mmg macam simple, tp susah sebenarnya nak 'fahamkan' dia konsep yang 'dia kena bagi gambar baru dapat bende yg dia nak'.. tapi once dia tau, mcm2 gambar kita boleh sediakan, and dia tinggal pilih je gambar mana mengikut keperluan dia.. Kalau dia dapat konsep ni, at least dia takkan rase 'frustrated' kalau tak dapat ape yg dia nak.. thus reducing his tantrums and we can attend to his needs exactly as what he wants... My aim, nak toilet train Faaeq.. so once dia dah faham konsep ni, saya akan sediakan gambar toilet, so kalau dia nak kencing ke po-po ke, bagi je gambar pd saya...

Mungkin ade yang rase cara ni akan membuatkan dia lagi 'taknak bercakap'... Sebenarnya tak.. in fact, ia akan menggalakkan lagi.. bukanlah kita main tukar2 gambar je.. masa dia hulur tu, kena juga kita cakap ape yg berkaitan... lama2 dia akan keluarkan juga words tu.. :)

Sebelum ni sebenarnya Faaeq dah di ajar.. tp dia tak faham... seingat sy ade 2 kali sessi speech theraphy Wei Li buat untuk PECS ni.. tapi tak boleh jugak.. sy pun (masa tu) rase Faaeq masih belum bersedia... sekarang, yes, he's ready! In fact, session semalam berjalan dengan jayanya! Mula2 main bubbles.. kalau Faaeq nak Wei Li tiup bubbles, dia kena bagi gambar bubbles pd Wei Li.. mula2 dia tak faham.. tp selepas bebarapa kali ajar dia, terus dia faham dah! YAY! Wei Li tunjuk toys, Faaeq nak toys, Faaeq bagi gambar toy, Wei Li bagi toys tu pd Faaeq! YAY!

So sekarang, nak kena sediakan gambar2 utk Faaeq... First 2 pictures would be his milk bottle and bathroom.. (sebab dia suke sgt nak mandi.. balik rumah je nak mandi.. ) Lepas ni, nak mandi je kena bagi card tu utk cakap 'nak mandi'.. then kena fikir lagi apa gambar2 yg sesuai.. gambar 'makan nasi' pun ok kot.. sekarang ni, kalau nak ape2 dia cuma buat bising.. atau tarik tangan ke tpt yg dia nak..

Lately Faaeq mcm dah boleh dengar arahan.. saya ajar dia buang diaper dia dlm bakul sampah, sekarang dia dah boleh buat sendiri.. bila nak mandi, buka baju, seluar, buka diaper, then dia akan buang dlm tong sampah. YAY! (tapi kdg2 kena marah jugakla baru buang.. sambil meloncat loncat!) So.. i think he's ready for PECS.

.. and i think he is more responsive because of the GFCF diet. Even his teachers noticed it and told me he listens to instructions and seems to understand what they're saying.. (compared to before.. buang dunno je...) It's been almost 2 months now... ade jugak yang 'terbabas'.. hari tu Faaeq 'ditangkap' sedang menjilat chocolate dlm fridge! hahaha... last week, dia sempat habiskan separuh RotiBoy sebelum abang dia perasan.. tapi lepas tu.. tergelak2 and terlompat2 non-stop.. bila tengok dia mcm tu, sy rasa kesian dan lagi kuat semangat nak teruskan diet ni.. banyak kali dah nak give up sebenarnyer... itu cerita entry lain lah!

Ok, till then, Salam Aidiladha.. Order ditutup rapat sampai lepas raya haji.. mlm ni banyak kena buat cupcks.. RV, DFCC and carrot cakes.. and tomorrow is Faaeq's birthday! Alhamdulillah...

Sometimes i wonder why people can be so rude.. kdg2 rase mcm nak balas balik, tp pk balik mungkin he/she had a bad day at home ke.. terbawak2 sampai ke opis... xpelah.. tapi.. kdg2 sy balas balik jugak.. org rude dgn kita, sy rase unfair sebab kita tak buat ape2 pun... hehehe... lawak.. mcm2 org.. mcm2 perangai...

Teringat masa Faaeq admitted kat ward Hosp Serdang untuk cabut gigi. Katil depan Faaeq ade sorang Indian lady.. Saya panggil dia "A".. agak2 sama umur mcm saya, maybe younger. Anak dia demam and taknak makan.. doc masukkan air taknak bagi dia dehydrated.. anak dia girl, baru setahun 2 bulan. Tu hari kedua dia kat ward.. Lebih kurang pukul 9mlm, masuk sorang pekerja hosp (perempuan, dlm umur 20-an) yg bawakkan air masak untuk bagi kepada patient.. sebab saya baru masuk,dia bagi saya satu jug air masak.. dia kata, nanti bawak bekas sendiri, boleh ambik air kat depan. Saya cakap, 'ok'. Then dia ke tempat A ni... A baru je dpt visitor lelaki, dia bagitahu saya, itu husband babysitter dia datang melawat, sebab wife dia (babysitter anak dia) tak dpt dtg, ade kena jaga budak kat rumah..

Pekerja ni pergi ke A, cakap, "u tak bawak ke bekas? saya nak ambik bekas ni".. A kata, "takdelah... saya takde bekas".. then pekerja tu cakap (dengan kasar), "kenapa tak suruh husband u bawak tadi?"

A: tak, tu bukan husband saya

Pekerja: abis tu sapa tu? husband awak mana? suruhla dia bawak bekas!

kitorg (saya dan sorang lagi yg katil sebelah saya) tercengang2 dengar pekerja tu cakap mcm tu... kitorg tau keadaan sebenar... last2 kawan saya yg sebelah katil tu cakap, "husband dia dah meninggal lah"..

Terdiam pekerja tu..

Sebenarnya husband A dah meninggal. Accident. Selepas kawin 10 tahun, selepas buat treatment mcm2, baru dia mengandung anak dia tu.. 3 bulan pregnant, husband dia meninggal accident motor. Bayangkan. Dia kena pergi sessi kaunseling utk stabil kan balik keadaan dia.. dia kata, majikan dia mmg sgt bertimbang rasa.. 3 bulan selepas husband dia meninggal, dia tak dpt bekerja sbb emosi tak stabil.. majikan masih bagi gaji.. sepanjang 2 hari sy kat hosp, mmg ramai yg melawat dia.. jiran dia, kawan sekerja dia.. so sy tau dia dpt support yg kuat dr org2 yg kenal dia.. sian... dia kata, anak dia tu sebijik muka dan perangai mcm husband dia... kalau tengok A ni, mmg kagumla.. sebab dia nampak sgt kuat... anak dia pun bijak... baru 1 thn 2 bulan, dah pandai kencing n po-po kat toilet! dia kata, mmg senang sgt jaga anak dia.. x byk kerenah.. pampers pun tak banyak pakai sebab dia dah pandai ke toilet...

Sampai sekarang sy teringat pekerja tu.. terkedu dia bila tau keadaan sebenar... pengajaran dia (dan saya juga), JANGAN ASSUME ape2... and jgn la rude tak tentu pasal..

Thank you Farah for this order.. and for making me crave for RV again.... uwaaa....

This is Red Velvet with buttercream topping. The design was requested by Illa herself, specifically wanting that pink crown, white bace and some small crowns at the side.. It's not easy to hand draw that huge crown on a cake! fuh.. i prefer to draw n cupcakes actually... the 'surface area' is smaller and less stressful :P

Yes RV goes best with cream cheese topping.. that's the match.. but cream cheese is soft and i cant possibly draw on it.. and the cake must be kept refrigerated, if not, the cream chs tu akan lembik.... if u want a more 'durable' RV, choose buttercream :)

Lazy Friday

I managed to make a set of cupcakes for Imran's Mualimahs (teachers) last night.... went to his school to pay his school monthly fees, gave the cupcakes to the clerk and ask her to pass to Imran's teachers. They are having some games at the dewan coz today is "Ko-ko day".. Yesterday my husband showed me an sms by his teacher, "Salam.. Kak, tahniah ye. Imran dah naik al-quran.. =)" Terharu...

I often write about Faaeq here but Imran is my fav son too :) He is 7 this year, an active boy and very intelligent... an origami fanatic, still.. loves to listen to my bedtime stories and learn very quickly if i teach him anything. He asks too many questions sometimes! I know he'll grow up to be a good person.. i can see he is very kind-hearted... cuma kdg2 mmg la nakal, biaselah tu budak2 kan.. :D

I forgot to bring my cables to connect the card reader to my comp... so no cupcakes photos today.. hehe... last night i made a red velvet cake too, for an order by Farah.. pictures later :) seeing the cake makes me crave for RV pulak dahhh... hmm....

And last night too, my friend (originally we know thru blogs and fb) came to my house.. saje jln2.. since she was in town for the long Divali hols.. (she stays in JB)... Syida of http://www.warkahdarimama.blogspot.com/. Her second child, Abil has autism.. Abil is 8 years old.. When i found out about Faaeq and wrote it here, she commented and ask me whether i was a mutual friend with Sharzila, my dear friend whom i know since college.. so we exchanged emails and sms, and now it seems like we're old friends already :) Syida is dear to me coz i really relate to her stories about Abil.. she takes time to write and share her experience.. i really appreciate that. I can see so much similarities between Abil and Faaeq.. sama je... sampai2 je terus naik tangga, and later terjun dr tangga ke sofa. hahaa... mmg itu ler kerja faaeq hari2... :P

So girls.. have a great weekend, i'll be in Rembau for a birthday party. Tonite i'm baking devil's food choc cake and maybe... just maybe.... a rainbow cake? recipe dah tampal kat pintu fridge cuma x tau sempat ke tak la.. hehe..

Family Affair

Sometimes people would call me in the wee hours of the day (2am?) to ask about cupcakes. haha... i love it. but usually i'm in my dreamland already and when the call wasn't answered, she/he sent me messages thru Whatsapp. Buat ape pukul 2 pagi tak tidur lagi ni? Study kot... (ye ke?) haipppp dr surf interenet baik tidur je la dik! betul.

1. It's freezing cold in my office but if I turn off the aircond it'll too warm and stuffy.

I think it's so adorable of her to give this set as her hantaran.. Dayu ordered 2 sets, satu utk pihak lelaki kpd prpn and satu lg utk dia kasik kat pihak lelaki.. x pernah lg i buat yg comel2 camni utk hantaran.. so i was kind of excited. Actually Dayu dah nak tukar design last minute, tp last2 pilih yg ni jugak. I told her, CUTE choice!

Order from Miss F (namanya tak nak disiarkan).. masa nak pick up ni agak kalut sebab kawan dia (M) yg sepatutnya pick up cupcks ni terlupe sebab dia ke hospital.. (Miss F nak buat surprise kat Ammar ni..) I waited and waited and then called Miss F mana kwn awak ni, agaknyer dia lupe kot? Then dpt msg from M, alamak, akk, soriii.. sy lupe.. sy kat hospital nie... then i ask her to contact sapa2 kwn2 dia yg lain yg boleh dtg.. dia kata semua dah balik.... so last2 dia kata nak ambik esok pagi (this morning la tu).. so i agreed..

tup tup Ammar Izzat ni called me and kata dia nak ambik kek dia... huhu.. so dah tak jadi surprised la... anyway, Miss F should know that yr friend M tu mmg betul2 kalut bila dia realised dia lupe.. sian gak kat dia... jgn marah dia yek. hehehe... both Miss F and M sgt sopan masa bercakap dengan i, suke dgr anak2 muda kita yg berhemah tinggi :)

Cupcakes for Akikah

I had these photos for so long in my external, found it just now while i was searching for some other files. Apparently i didnt save these in my usual folder of 'cupcakes photos'.

Shima emailed me the design she wanted, but the original design was done in fondant. She wanted buttercream cupcakes.. so i modified a bit but the design is very much similar to the original design from... i dont know who! so if you happen to know, pls inform me so can give credit accordingly.

They are supposed to be cute little babies.. my version errr... i dont think they're perfect, but... hehe...

Anyway, THANKS shima, i think your baby mesti dah besar dah skrg!

Pyrography

Pyrography is the correct term for the technique more commonly known as "wood burning". The term means the art of 'drawing with fire'. It is an ancient craft practised throughout the world. Originally pokers were heated in fires and created rather crude results. During the Victorian period the craft enjoyed its greatest popularity. Victorian ladies developed various tools such as fine steel rods similar to knitting needles and heated then in fire or over a spirit lamp, allowing then to work more skillfully and create fine design... *taken from the woodburning kit manual*

My first attempt on pyrography... this thing is the coolest! i carved the writings on a piece of wood, just to have the 'feel' of carving using a sharp burning 'pen'. Loved it! ... and endless possibilities i can do with this.. *mcm2 dlm kepala tp nak buat nyer tu x tau bile lah! hihi

I so dont know how to draw these angry birdies! Imran was excited when he saw me doing these cupcakes. "Ibu, rupernyer ibu ni pandai lukis angry birds ehhh.... " (hahaha... iyo lah tu!) .. terus dia pun ambik kertas and start nak lukis2 angry birds... i have to confess, i am no fan of the game.. but my son and ayah dia mmg layann..... ape yg bess sgt tarik2 burung pastu melayang pastu bunuh burung lain? (errr.... that doesnt sound good... opss!)

I have to much to tell, i dont know where to start!

This is Faaeq. He is a child with autism. He's doing great but his mom (and dad) sometimes cant help but wonder whether or not he can face the world all by himself...

As I mentioned before, we started a GFCF diet for Faaeq... Although the diet is not proven to work on all kids with autism, we're positive it is a good thing to try..we want to give it a shot. Autism is a spectrum, meaning it is very broad in the sense of how it affects the child and how the child responds to treatment. No one single treatment or therapy works for every child. That's the trick.. that's why it is up to the parents to actually figure out what is best for their child.. The same basic principle also applies to every normal child. I mean when it comes to parenting, we know what is best for our child and we do our best and make the best out of every situation.. bringing up a child to become a human being with compassion and integrity is not an easy thing to do! I'm sure all moms out there will agree with me on this!

During the first week of the diet, Faaeq's teachers at his taska told me it is easier to put him for his afternoon nap. At home, I noticed he is more playful, more eye contact (this is definately true way before we started this diet) and make more sounds than usual. Still no specific word yet.

Second week, he started humming! He was making sounds as though he is singing! Tapi tak fahamla ape dia nyanyi... but definately it is a song.. I'm guessing it's Adele's.. but.. yeah.. who knows!?

He is eating well and drinking his Rice Milk. I bought some supplements (Fish oil, Multivits) to cover whatever vitamins he's lacking, altho actually i think he is having enough with all the food he's taking. He eats chicken, loves salmon, tenggiri goreng, eggs, carrot... I'm still trying to force him to eat his greens.. still dia akan keluarkan walaupun ade sikittt je sawi dlm nasi dia.. urghhh.... he takes fruits, almost all kinds, grapes, apples, pears.. so.. i guess it's sufficient! I'm no dietition or an expert on this, i'm still learning and reading a lot about proper nutritients.. This diet means i have to eliminate all gluten which comes mainly in wheat (gandum).. if u go to supermarkets and look for food without gluten in the "biscuits/crackers aisle, i'm sure u'll find NONE! semua tak boleh makan.. either it has wheat powder, or worse, MSG. Mula2 mmg sedih... I cant buy all his fav biscuits anymore... Bye bye Pringles, Oreo, Biskut Tiger, Yoss etc etc... seriously, i was FRUSTATED! ape ni semua takleh makan? ape dia nak makan?

Then I realised, almost all of that are junk food! Pringles, Mr Potato, twisties..all contains MSG and if you notice, the mg is quite high! Mula2 mmg kitorg pun kasik je dia makan Jackel (the potato chips) sebab dlm byk2 potato chips, yg tu je takde wheat starch. They use potato starch... then later, i realised, it is very high in salt and MSG. Dahhhh takleh makan... Frust lagi :( It takes some time for Faaeq to adjust too... kat rumah dahler byk biskut... kesian dia.. ambik biskut dlm packet nak suruh buka... imagine.

But now he munches on fruits and drink juices. and because he doesnt take snacks, he eats a lot during mealtimes. A LOT of rice, i'm telling you. He eats more than me!

So far we're happy with the diet. We're still hoping we could see more positive improvements.

I told you before that he is having trouble sleeping at night. That's because now, we limit only 2 bottles of milk before he sleeps.. for the sake of his beautiful teeth (what's left after the hospital event, haha) we want to wean him off the bottle.. he doesnt need it anymore actually.. he knows how to drink from cups. In fact he can take his own water from the container and drink. His milk bottles are just for soothing him to sleep.. like teddy bears la.. ade budak peluk teddy bear, dia ni nak minum botol sampai la dia tido.. sampai 3-4 botol minum before tido, ape nyer.... pastu terbocor atas tilam hari2... :P

Lately Faaeq is having trouble sleeping at night.. i feel sorry for him... i wish he could calm down and just close his eyes and sleep.... i wish he could hug his brother and say good night and dream little dreams in his fav blanket..

We started Faaeq on GFCF diet since 8th Sept.. yes, a few days after raya.. raya makan lah puas2...so now he's on Rice Milk, and we try to elimanate gluten in his diet as much as possible.. so far so good.. i'll tell you more on his diet later.. can't find time to write longer.. i hv to finish my piling work first!

Raya 2011

Before anything, I am smiling thinking of how much fun we had during raya... Imran and Faaeq especially... it's good to be back at Terengganu.. my place is Chendering.. where Noor Arfa Batik is.. and the beautiful Masjid Terapung. Now another beautiful mosque is on the way, the new Masjid Raja Chendering, replacing the old wooden mosque where The Sultan used to pray every Raya and had his Terawikh there sometimes...

After raya prayer (which i obviously couldn't go *faaeq wont stay put) we headed to The Lagoon which is about 200 meters our home.. we had our Raya photos taken there a few years back and we thought it's a great place to pose!

Maaf zahir batin, Grandpa, Tokma... it's been a long time... since we're back in town :)

All in the family. My sister and brother whom are so so so far away... i wish they are near always! Look at Faaeq.. isn't he the cutest! hahaha

Second day of raya, we went to visit my aunt and uncle at Dungun... had the best nasi minyak!

Third raya, we headed to Kota Bharu to visit my grandmother, uncles and aunties at Tok Bali, Gunong, and Kota Bharu. (My mom is a Kelantanese.. my dad is from Tangkak. My siblings, are all Orang Ganu kiterrr... )

Raya was so much fun I forgot to even snap some photos using my phone. I didnt have the whole family's photo on my phone! Dang! Thank god there's Instagr.am.. hihi... so here are some snaps i took out and around my hometown, Terengganu kiter.

Imran could fit in the basket! haha... and people keep looking at him while i pull him around Maidin KT. Some makciks even smiled at me, amused.

now this is at MY home.. our new home. the poor frog died in faaeq's cookie container left outside.. along with the flies. bunuh diri la ni kot.

Imran this morning otw to school with me. all sleepy and complaining the mineral water at school is rm1.20 instead of rm1 before raya.

Tq Kak Ilah for this order. These were delivered this morning for Laiqa's 4th birthday! I remember i did her 3rd birthday cupcakes last year.. I was in a hurry so the photo was taken with my camera phone. Angry birds and pink swirls.

My son Imran's remark: Ibu, tak sangka ibu pandai lukis angry bird! *haha

Muke mengantuk bangun sahur. Bangun2 terus ke dapur pastu duduk atas meja, tunggu org makan. Pastu ikut masuk tidur semula. lawak betulla si poik* ni!
*nama manja Faaeq. nama2 manja lain ialah; Che Po, Po, Poyikkkk dan Paul. ehem.

Yesterday me and husband went to Pusat Kebajikan Masyarakat at Banting Selangor to request for an OKU card for Faaeq. It was long overdue, the hospital gave us the form last year, somehow we didnt put it as a priority to get the card until our last appmt at CDC (Child Dev Center HUKM). We went there last week. The doctor asked us why we havent registered yet, and we just couldnt give her an answer. (Dlm hati, ingatkan tak perlu?) Apparently, it is important to have the card if we want to send Faaeq to a special school, or to enroll him to a government's EIP (Early Intervention Program) and such. My husband went to Sepang's Pusat Kebajikan but they asked us to go to Banting since our address is within Banting's district. Off we went, the drive was about 45 mins from shah alam (jauhhhhhh). My husband has ensured that he completed and brought all the necessary items (photos, ic copies etc) according to the checklist on the form, given by the hospital.

We were attended by a friendly and helpful staff, and after checking all the documents, she noted that the form is the older version of what they have now. Fortunately, the only difference (according to another officer) is the photograph slot on the right hand side of the form, so they accepted it anyway. BUT, the new form also has a new checklist, and one item they added to the form is ELECTRICITY/UTILITY BILL.. which has to be brought together and submitted for them to confirm the address. Danggg!!! we didn't have any! and the thought of having to come back to the office (which is VERY far from our home) really got me frusttrated.

Then i remembered, there was an old electricity bill somewhere in the car, but the address was our previous house which was our rental house. Alhamdulillah the officer said she can accept that and noted on the form, that is was our rented hs and that we will be at our new address as written on the form. PHEW!!!! The hospital should have updated their forms (or the Jab Kebajikan kot.. should have) but either way, pls note that u have to bring yr bills if in case u're going to get that card. The card will be ready in a few months time, coz it has to be endorsed by the Pengarah..

The whole day yesterday after we went there, I felt low. I felt helpless. I had a bad dream last night.

But today, I got my strength back to help faaeq.

I'll take baby steps to start a GFCF diet for faaeq. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim...

FB has been filled with updates on people counting Ramadhan days.. Ramadhan ke15, Ramadhan ke16, Ramadhan ke17... hehehe... I, on the other hand have been busy counting the days when my parents and my sister will join us for Raya! I've never actually been 'away' from my parents for so long since i came back from the states.. and sydney.. well, that doesnt really count coz i kinda 'left' them, now they 'left' me and went to York to stay with my sister. It's weird and i do really am happy that they finally get to have a longgg break but.. i'm selfish! i want them near! haha. Imran particularly has been missing his Tokma and Grandpa a lot. He keeps talking about them every now and then..

I'm still tired of the move and i have no excitement to take out the oven and bake.. yet. but i know i have to get started next week.. i want to bake a few easy cookies and cakes for eid. i have a long list of recipes, i still have not decided yet which one i will attempt. hmmm.... help!

Scribbling or coloring?

I've been soooo tired to think nowadays.. I blame it on the move. Yes we've moved to our new home last weekends, our first night was on Saturday and we've been sleeping sound in our new home for 3 nights! Alhamdulillah... and Imran made a remark, "Ibu, Imran asyik teringat je rumah lama kiter".. oh boy.

Faaeq was a bit confused with the whole moving thing. He doesnt understand what's happening but he is enjoying the new environment and been cracking his head how to climb and get thru the windows, walls, stairs.. he's been sleeping late but slept thru the night. I think it's the new place. We have a whole new garden to do, and i'm pretty excited about it! meanwhile, must cabut all those lalangs and rumput liar! that's been my activity for about 1 hour before berbuka. 1 solid hour of 'gardening' and then masuk rumah, minum minum dan minum .. it's the thirst i cant bear.. makan xpe lagi.. kan? I know i can just pay someone to do it but i just like to do it by myself. we're not in a hurry so.. it's a great family activity too! i'll show u our work tomorrow if i remember to snap a few photos of my 'garden' this evening. hehe.

I noticed faaeq is so 'proper'. Look at the pens and pencils, all side up and he'll arrage all at the center. Then when he's done scribbling on one page, he'll pick up all of them and...

.. arraged them at the center again. properly. Comel je. haha

So, what are u cooking for berbuka today? I cooked these babies yesterday along with ketam masak lemak.. Faaeq had 3 servings, Imran had 2 big ones.. dua2 mmg lidah org nogori lah! kalau masak lemak cili padi je mmg laju...

Today, bawal masak stim (i bought the pickled plum yesterday to garnish the fish, yay!) and tomyam.. yam yam... mcm nilah bulan puasa.. always look fwd to what to cook.. one of the many blessings of Ramadhan!

Long Sleeves and long pants.. or so long!

Having an autistic child opens up a whole new perspective towards children behaviors for me. Looking at each child is never the same again.. when i saw a child throwing tantrums, i dont judge the parents for not being able to handle the situtiation. In fact, do you think if we do really know how to handle a situation with a child? They seem to have their mind and the world of their own, autistic or not. Sometimes i question myself, maybe I am too, the autistic one!

Faaeq is really obsessed with long sleeved shirt and long pants now. When he is home in the evening, the first thing he'll do is to take off his shorts, and struggling to take off his sleeveless top or short sleeved shirt, and find a fully covered clothes. Last Saturday, after he took his morning bath, he was really mad at me for putting on him shorts and sleeveless.. mengamuk2 sampai lah dia jumpa balik baju tidur dia dlm bakul baju kotor, and pakai semula baju tidur tu! haih. I guess he doenst like the feeling of exposed legs and arms.. the trick to get him to wear them is to let him run around in his diapers dulu lah kot...

Autistic kids seems to be extreme with sensory. And now faaeq makes so much noise humming and babling and mumbling.. he wont stop 'talking'... in his own language that is! and i read somewhere that making 'noise' is some kind of self preservation technique for an autistic child. It means when he hums and makes sounds, the outside noises and distractions can't get in. Logic. He used to cover his ears when he hears certain sounds that he doesnt like. Kdg2 lagu, kdg2 bunyik burung, kdg2 bunyi motor...

ni time ibu nyanyikan lagu Adele kat dia. Ok la... suara ibu tak sedap eh! Grrrr...

Also, i've read a real life experience told by an autistic person (he's an adult now and giving talks on his experience when he was small and having to deal with everyday challeges that ordinary people wont understand).. he said when he was small, he hated haircuts coz it was really painful for him! The sound of the machine, the hair fall, everything about the haircut made him in pain.. he couldnt explain why he felt that way.. maybe it was sensory overload.. i dont know.. but that explains why faaeq will scream his lung out whenever he has his haircut. Maybe. Who knows what he's going thru. That explains why we let his hair grow long and try to minimize the haircut sessions for him. Besides, he looks so cute with long hair, kan? kehkehkeh

At Rembau. He can climb the tress, run here and there, play with sand, smoke.. i let him be. takpelah lepas tu boleh mandi.

So I guess for the time being we just hv to deal with his latest obsession- baju lengan panjang and seluar panjang. Bagus jugak, nyamuk tak gigit.. stylo puna de gak kot.. haha

he put his puzzle pieces in the basket and couldnt find them among the clothes :P

Autism. Ya gotta love it.

Lately ni malas nak buat ape2.. sebab malam kitorg sibuk ngangkut barang ke rumah baru.. semlm, lepas angkat meja makan, kitorg terpk, agak2 takyah sewa lori kot? semua mcm muat je dlm kereta? hahahaha... gilos. aku dah sakit pinggang.

Tapi bess jugak.. dua trip angkat barang, baju lencun dengan peluh. baru la rase mcm exercise lari keliling padang lapan kali. Minum air dua jug pun mcm tak cukup..

Sebenarnyer silap timing.. kontractor tu lambat siapkan dapur yg kitorg extend.. so last2 terpaksa pindah time bulan puasa nie.. target by this weekends, semua barang habis di angkat, and dah boleh tidur rumah baru! yihaa... :D

Langsir baru dah siap.. bli kat ikea (sukeee sgt corak2 langsir ikea).. sebenarnyerkan, dengan rm19.90 semeter, harganya sgt berpatutan kalau nak compare dengan nilai3, macy's dan kedai2 yg sewaktu dgnnya.. kat macy's, kain yg sama lebih kurang, rm59.90 semeter. Tak mampu la nak beli.. baju raya saya pun tak semahal tu.. hehehe...

Full of tragic stories out there.
but people has to live, if god gave us 'more' time in this world.

about me, now I've got a job in 100km away from Iwaki now.
just started from last Friday.
so I live alone in outside of Iwaki city.
There's no friends yet, don't know anything around this area,
it's funny I miss Iwaki now, hehehe.

Life is mysterious sometimes, I've never imagined to live here and work!
company is really nice.
and I made my one of my dreams come ture here.

company is groupe of CITIZEN co,ltd.
and I'm doing transelating (Instruction Manuals and all documents)job at design & developing department.
I'm only woman in about more than 30 members(guys) in this room.
Manager & co-worker in my group are so nice & warm,
room is clean, calm...really different from JE!!!

I AM HAPPY to work here!

I don't know until when I can continue to work here,
coz my condition is only 3months contracted employee here.
But I don't feel bad anything now,
looking back my life in JE (especially last 3years) and after comming back from NY...in this March 11...compares to them, here's like heaven.
I've never felt like this,most basic thing is important and happiest thing to our lives.'Eat','Sleep','Work'.
After the quake, I (most people) lost 'Eat' and 'Sleep',
worst thing for me was I had no job at that time.

Many people lost their loving ones and house everything,
or they have to evacuate from their home town.

Mom's friend is still in shelter very far from our city.

I do have 'Fear' in my future,
but now, I just do whatever I can.
because I can start to walk out my life again,
and still I'm not getting off the road of my hope.

some words really made me feel good.
when I read the part of
'be strong Japanese people, we are with you'..
tears coming up... after the quake, I became a person like easy to cry,
maybe something happens inside,i guess.

I 've also not recover completely yet,
sometimes feels so sad and miss everything what I'd lost.
especially the 'Time' before 3.11.
and feels so tired...not to feel to do anything AT ALL.

but as I told you, I have to move on,
I still have my life, I have a home, have my family.

my friend's brother's body was found at the see shore
20km away from his home sea side.
one working in JE, his parents are still missing.
(can't search cause of the radioactivity)
some people used to work in JE at Fikushima plant, had died by Tsunami.
Murata-san's family lives in evacuated area, so they'd already leave home there.

Fukushima is very different situation from other disaster area.
we have power plant as world's famouse,now.
so we always worring about the radiation.
little kids can't play outside, have to keep shut a door even it's hot outside,
no pools this summer,drinking water, vegetables, air....everything!
we have to worry about. can't tell you all!

Also about Iwaki city,
so many people came from northan part (evacuation area),
so there are not enough houses, jobs(that's why I moved to work)...
'different place' from the city once you lived.
Iwate & Miyagi is moving to recover,rebuild the city.
but in Fukushima(sea side) is nothing going on because nobody can't enter the area
from 30Km away from ground zero.
also all people evacuated.
so in the worst area, dead bodies,pets(cats,dogs) are just leave there.
some cows, horses,sheep are also still there, or already died,I guess....

We're really encoureged by the supports and words from all over the world,
also from inside of Japan.
every time I see or hear, tears comming up.
on the other hand, really really disapointed our goverment,

what a shame....

in fact, when I serching my job,
I'd found the job advertisement working in KL!
and that company is in PJ!

Nak cerita psl Faaeq since ade ramai yg tulis kat FB sy tak sempat nak reply semua and cerita semua.. so here it goes.

Faaeq sakit gigi. Last 3 weeks dia sakit gigi and gusi dia bengkak. Tak delah bengkak yg teruk tp nampakla pipi dia mcm bengkak, dia tak boleh tidur mlm.. asyik merengek2.. takde selera makan.. (selera ade kot tp tak boleh nak makan sbb sakit)... mmg miserable tengok dia. Dah bawak ke klinik gigi, dia mmg taknak bukak mulut langsung. kena paksa dengan doc, doc nampak geraham dia dah teruk.. gigi depan dia mmg nampak lawa je... tp geraham dia mmg dah berlubang besar... so doc bagi referral letter to Hosp Klang sebab dia kata kat situ je yg dia tau ade Peads Dental.. (Dental biase tak buat utk kanak2.. ade certains hosp saja ade Peads Dental)... Masa tu Ahad. Doc bagi ubat antibiotik, makan 5 hari then lps habis antibiotik tu, kena pergi hosp la..

Khamis dlm pukul 10 pagi taska Faaeq called.. cakap Faaeq dah nangis non-stop dr pagi.. so sy balik rumah ambik dia and terus bawak ke Hosp Serdang. Walaupun dengan reference letter utk ke Klang Hosp, Serdang Hosp accept jugak.. (kitorg dahgoogle awal2 mana hosp yg ade peads dental, sbb klang hosp tu mcm jauh dr rumah kitorg nak gi). Terus walk in je ke Dental Peads tu.. cakap Faaeq sakit gigi and nak jumpa doc. kebetulan specilist baru lepas habis operation gigi... so dia ade kat situ.. dia tengok gigi Faaeq, and cakap mmg kena cabut. SInce Faaeq is not cooperative at all, dia cakap kena put him on GA, so kena masuk wad sehari awal untuk cek semua, and doc bius pun nak tengok dulu before operaion tu.. the earliast available date utk masuk OT (operation theather) was on 30th July.. so kitorg kena masuk wad on 29th July and stay one night before the OT.. Panadol dah tak berkesan dah masa tu... so doc bagi another stronger antibiotics and a stronger painkiller.. Wah! makan ubat tu semua, Faaeq dah ok la..sementara nak tunggu appmt dia on 30th tu.. (this was about 3 weeks ago)

Friday the 29th July, check-in la kitorg di wad! Wad kanak2 di Hosp Serdang. Ward yg cantik,bersih and ade tpt budak2 main yg selesa.. Faaeq ape lagi.. buat la stunt dia mcm biase.. (dia tak sakit gigi dah masa ni.. ) After doktor bius cek, nurse ambil Faaeq punya berat, temp and all basic infos, basically we just hv to wait till tomorrow la... Faaeq patient ke2.. ade 3 org yg akan cabut gigi on 30th tu..

No other children below 12 dibenarkan masuk ke wad tu.. even waktu melawat... except saturday and sunday. since kitorg masuk tu jumaat, Imran takleh masuk la tengok Faaeq.. Ibu jelah yg jaga... mmg takleh buat ape.. Faaeq was so excited dengan new surroundings... semua nurse pun geleng kepala jelah tengok dia.. since kitorg mmg bgtau Faaeq ni autistic and ADHD, nurse semua pun faham and understanding la... ok je semua nurse kat wad tu.. :)

Faaeq kena puasa, the last milk dia boleh minum was at 12midnite and air kosong at 4am.. mlm tu dia tidur lena je... ibu pun tidur sekali atas katil kecik tu.. haha.. muat ok! :P Then dlm pukul 9.30, nurse dah suruh tukat baju utk ke OT.. masa tu Faaeq dah lapar and nak makan, nak susu.. semua tak boleh so dia marah... tu yg nangis2 tu sebab lapar tu..

Dlm bilik waiting room OT.. tunggu kejap sementara patient sebelum ni keluar... budak yg keluar be4 faaeq kena cabut 12 batang gigi! Just imaginela... budak tu keluar OT tu meraung2... (dia dikejutkan dulu be4 keluar.. masa buat tu mmg full GA, x sedar).. mak dia nampak terus nangis sekali.. sy pun tumpang nangis sekali.. huaa... pastu turn faaeq pulak. Cuak gak! Ibu boleh masuk sekali dengan faaeq sampai OT. Then saya yang letak sendiri mask utk pengsankan dia tu.. kejap je, dah pengsan.. then keluar and tunggu kat luar.. about 45 mins, siap! Faaeq nangis gak masa keluar tu tp takdelah meraung mcm budak be4 that.. so saya pun rilek jelah...

Cium rambut dia bau darah.. mulut dia pun penuh darah... 5 batang gigi kena cabut.. 4 geraham and satu gigi taring dia.. doc kata gigi taring tu dah tak sihat... so better cabut je sbb takut nanti dia sakit gigi lagi.. doc tu siap cakap, "saya takut ibu terkejut bila tengok gigi dia takde..".. i trust the doc.. tengok gigi2 faaeq yg dah dicabut tu (dia buh dlm botol and kasik bwk balik), mmg horror!!! sian si kenit ni.. dia mamai2 and tidur lps ke wad.. bangun2 je, nak kasik air kosong dia taknak... nak susu... so bagi dia susu and terus minum habis sebotol. doc tengok dia ok, xde muntah2, so boleh baliklah petang tu! yay!

kenapa kena cabut sampai 5 batang? ade org ty boleh ke cabut byk2 tu? boleh je.. kalau yg buat tu specialist and buat tu kat hosp.. klinik2 biase takkan buat... budak yg be4 faaeq tu (yg kena cabut 12 btg tu), mak dia kata, dia tak sakit pun gigi... cuma gusi dia bengkak (tp gigi budak tu mcm byk dah patah2).. doc kata kalau tak cabut, takut kena barah gusi.. itu yg kena buat jugak.. gigi kekal nak tumbuh senget ke, tak sekata ke, itu belakang kire lah kalau dah kes camni..

Alhamdulillah semuanya berjln lancar utk faaeq.. balik Sabtu, dia still merengek2 sakit gusi.. bagi panadol je, and mlm tu pun dia tak lena sgt tidur. Ahad, dia dah melompat sana sini, dah panjat almari, dah panjat tembok rumah... Faaeq is BACK! paling kelakar, tengok dia senyum.. sebab dah rongak! mmg kena gelak jelah faaeq! xde snap lagi gambar dia rongak, nanti kalau ade, sy tunjuk. hihi

Kenapa banyak sgt gigi dia rosak? Sebenarnye Faaeq ni tak makan gula2.. choc pun x makan... tapi dia kuat susu.. and susu lah puncanya.. susu ade gula and bila dia tidur dengan susu.. mmg habisla gigi...

On faaeq's improvement, he is now making so many new sounds.. and he can say "cu cu" (susu) and now.. we believed him when he said "ayayayayya" that he meant "ayah".. sebab.. masa slps dia keluar OT tu, dia nampak ayah dia, and he said "ayayayayayaya".. sambil nangis... and he is more manageable now.. at restaurants, he can sit and eat his food, throws less tantrums, and cooperative to instructions... i hope, when he reaches 4YO this november, he will be able to speak a few words... and i hope the ceiling leak at Sensory Room HUKM is fixed soon! coz faaeq loves it there...

She also wanted this design, and requested it to be in gold, cream, dark brown and light pink. She came to my house with her lappy, and opened all my photos she saved in a huge word file. I was surprised! Apparently she couldnt choose which one she liked most :)

Pretty paper doilies

I'm a big fan of doilies.. especially paper doilies. I so adore my mom's crotchets, i tried my hand at it once but failed miserably. haha.. some things are just not meant for me, sewing it is.

I think the cheapest place u can buy pretty paper doilies ~ bakery shops! and Jusco. They carry square ones too!

For this RV i made for myself (hihi), i put a paper doily on the cream cheese topping (might be a good idea to put the cake in the fridge for a while to make the topping stiffer) and dust cocoa powder on it. Take it away, and voila! I adore the effects! Love it. Full stop.

Since this is a small cake (7 inch), i just used a part of the pattern on it. Imagine if u have a bigger cake and a prettier doily. Imagine the possibilities... :D

Somehow, it did helped us to memorized the days of the week..

Sekolah saya dulu (dah sekarang) ialah sekolah kampung.. rumah dekat dengan pantai, (Pantai Chendering).. so ramai classmates saya yg ayahnya nelayan.. dtg sekolah berselipar, baju comot2, muke pun comot.. tak tau baca, tulis, (sampai darjah 6 pun ade yg tak tau).. ade yg ayahnya dah hilang di lautan... takde seorang pun yang saya ingat datang sekolah dihantar dengan kereta. Dengan moto adelah.

Tapi saya masih ingat semua muka2 classmates saya. Susunan masing2 dlm kelas pun ingat, masa darjah 6 jela.. sampai sekarang. nama maybe x ingat, tp muka ingat.. so kalau terserempak bile balik Trg, mmg cam, cuma malu la nak tegur... kalau prmp okla.. kalau laki, buat dunno je.. hihi

The toilet that's so famous of so many ghost stories. I dare not go inside alone. Evrytime i need to do my 'thing', i'll just climb the back gate and ran to my house. My grandma was always home. I miss her.

My home. I miss home. Will be back for raya, can't wait!

Alhamdulillah my dad completed his Europe journey last Sunday. He was away for 2 months.. covering Prague, Venice, Italy, Paris, Swiss, and many other countries and places unknown to me.. Now he is back at my sister's place in York. They'll spend the fasting month there and will be back home on 27th Aug, just in time for Raya! Pa, go trim those white beard and u'll look like George Clooney in a glance! :D

ok... enuf babbling... yesterday the contractor who's gonna do my kitchen called me to come today, to install the kitchen cabinets! Yay! Since both me and my husband can't get off work today, i told him to install tomorrow.. hb will be around tomorrow.. can't wait!

my dream kitchen... apparently all those pretty tiles are so hard to find. *sigh*

Till then, i'll brag more about my kitchen, altho not so dreamy, i will love it unconditionally coz we forked out our savings just to make it happen. So, no more orders till Raya, I'll pack my oven this Thursday after my last order of the month.

I left my external drive at home where i keep all my photos (seem to be doing this quite frequently now) so i dont have any cakes photos to share with you. Imran is at his highs last night. Thanks Tok Dah and Tok Nik for the presents.. Spongebob theme Bingo and.. satu lg tak ingat nama ape tp game tu mcm bess! Dah janji dengan Imran malam ni nak main.

After class last Saturday we headed straight to my MIL's @Rembau.. ada kenduri doa selamat sempena menyambut Ramadhan dan tahlil . Alhamdulillah semuanya berjln lancar walaupun saya tak tolong apa2.. basuh pinggan pun tak tolong.. Ayah Imran and Faaeq dah flat sebab demam... banyak yg berlaku sebenarnyer... taska Faaeq tutup Sabtu hr tu, ade Sukan Tahunan and apparently we (our whole family) was not invited just because Faaeq doesnt know how to play?! I pun ape lagi.. sound terus, kecik hati... kenapa Faaeq tak di jemput (dahla tak inform, nak tutup taska hari sabtu.. i dah plan buat kelas.. takkan nak cancel?!).. cikgu dia jawab, sukan untuk budak 4,5,6 tahun.. well, Faaeq is 4!? Anyway... takpelah... a lil bit of misunderstanding... and miscommunications.. so end up ayah kena jaga Faaeq semasa Ibu buat kelas.. tq my darling.. dont know what i'd do without u!

.. and... baby Zaim!!! yang dah 5 months... sgt comel... dan Faaeq pun sangat geram! sikit2 nak sayang.. nak sayang tu siap baring atas badan baby Zaim... mana tak marah si kenit tu! Uwaaaa..... tunggu Zaim besar sikit kang boleh main dengan Faaeq dan abg Imran. Yay!

Play play and play. Climb climb and climb... tak boleh lepas sekejap, mesti nak panjat ke rumah sebelah. pening betul dengan Faaeq nie.. kejap je dah hilang kalau tak tengok dia... banyak tempat2 bahaya.. so mmg kena selalu jaga dia..

Had a blast at Pullman Putrajaya swimming pool. Masuk rm1 seorang.. tapi kolam dia bess.. seronok kalau gi petang, x panas sgt.. first time faaeq pakai pelampung.. mula2 dia taknak.. lama2 dia ok, x cabut, tapi punyerlah penakut kalau lepas dia dlm air bagi dia terapung. bila kaki tak cecah lantai pool, dia mcm fobia.. konon macho sgt boleh panjat sana sini... hahahhaa..

lepas mandi pool, bilas kat paip. situ pun boleh main air lagi..

uwaaa.... this Friday Faaeq yg macho ni akan masuk wad pediatrik di Hosp Serdang... doc bagi appmt on 30th (saturday) untuk cabut gigi dia.. geraham bawah, kiri dan kanan, rasenyer semua tu kena cabut! sebab dia akan kena bius x sedar, so kena masuk wad a day before.. and hopefully lepas tu boleh balik the same day. 31st ni kan dah nak pose.. huhu... harap2 semua ok...

and lastly... we'll be moving to our new home... i'allah... soon! kitchen dah siap.. tinggal plumbing... This wednesday kitchen kabinet siap pasang.. yay!

Yeah, i know you can tell.. the red velvet cake is 'overpowering' my cupcks now! But as you can see, my RVs are with simple decorations and i actually am not good at the art of big cakes! however, if u dont mind some bumpy cream cheese and uneven finishes on your cake, i'd be glad to make you one :) i'd say it's rugged. haha... Ouch!

I know i've been quiet.. the truth is i have so many things in my head, i dont know how to start telling you about it. Faaeq has been miserable with his toothache and we, are more miserable looking at him struggling to eat and munch his fav snacks.. he is usually always munching on something.. biscuits, crackers, fruits, cereals.. now he dare not! We have an appointment at the dental peads to admit him on this coming 29th, and the specialist will extract his tooth (teeth).. how many depending on the specilist when she gets to open his mouth while he is under anestesia.. I AM NERVOUS! First, the thought of staying in a ward with a hyperactive kid... u know how it'll go... and then the night before the operation, faaeq will have to fast, no eating and maybe even drinking... HOW will that go?

Anyway... let's just hope for the best.. and I want to get it over as soon as possible so he'll be up and about again without worrying about his aching teeth. Poor little man :(

So, how's your week so far? :)

I'll do a last class before Ramadhan, and before we move to our new home! (woohooo!), on this coming 23rd July (Saturday). If u'd like to know how i make my cupcakes, maybe u'd like serve them during Raya.. come! come! :)

Cameron Highlands Day 2 & 3

Hye friends.. so here are the rest of the photos.. too many of them I dont know which ones are my fav :)

Faaeq with my phone. Mmg cepat betul dia belajar nak pakai... dia tau mana nak bukak flash card game dia.. dia tau mana nak picit utk dengar nursery rhymes dia.. and I let him use it coz he knows how to take care of it. berhati2 je dia pegang... and this phone saves us from running around chasing him :P Bravo Apple!

This was on top of a hill at Habu Boh Plantation. We had to hike 173m up the hill to get the excellent view of tea plantation. It's really nice up there, cool wind blowing and because we were early, we had the place all to ourselves. Best sgt!

Thought of doing a series of jumping photos for you but unfortunately, most of my photos while I was 'flying' or 'floating' had some 'exposures' of my FLAT tummy. Nanti ade yang jelous, so.... I'll leave that to your imiginations. Hahaha

We had our breakfast, my husband had tuna sandwich, I had a delicious slice of banana carrot cake with cream cheese topping (yummy!) and Imran had a dry (bad choice) choc cake. Dahler choc cake tu paling mahal. huh.

Lastly, we headed to our fav Rose garden.. Still not lucky this time coz we didnt get to buy their rose jam. It's not rose season, should be here in October when all the roses will be in bloom..

Cameron Highlands Day 1

We went up on 23rd June, Thursday. Why Thursday... taknak ramai org kat atas tu. Serik sebab pernah pergi masa cuti sekolah. Traffic jam atas tu.. jadi jam stroberi semua org :P First time kitorg naik melalui exit Simpang Pulai. The trip was not bad. Altho kena tambah lagi 30km (Tapah-Simpang Pulai jarak 30km), tp jalan naik atas tak terlalu sempit dan bahaya mcm melalui Tapah. Plus new sceneries for us, so that was a bonus :)

After checking in our hotel at Brinchang, we went to Boh Tea Plantation Sg Palas. This time, the kids and my husband walked up from the parking place at the lower location. I drove myself up by car, convieniently! haha.. alasan, balik karang kite takyah la turun jalan kaki nak ke kereta... kih kih kih

Kalau ke Cameron mmg tak sah la tak ambik gambar bunga... :)

Imran yang tak habis2 berposing. This time the trip was made coz of his birthday, so he was all excited la..

Faaeq was eager to explore!

Then we headed to Tanah Rata. Bought some goreng pisang panas, makan2 di taman mainan. Both of them loved it there. Udara sejuk, nyaman, sambil panjat2 dan tergolek. Kids!

My FAV photo of all, Faaeq playing hide and seek with me for the first time! Zillions eye contacts and involvement and interactions with me and abang. Thanks Ayah for capturing this magical moment~ I was actually surprised that he even know how to play!

Yesterday during our session with the psychologist at Klinik Psikologi Kesihatan HUKM, he said he's seeing very good improvement in terms of eye contact for Faaeq. And he was surprised to see that Faaeq initiated hugs and eye contact with us. That's tremendous achievement and we were so happy to hear that. All we did was applying all the techniques we learnt from our speech therapist and psychologist.. At last, rasa mcm terubat semuanya... I hope he continues to improve and improve and not to loose his newfound interest, playing!

hehehe... bile tengok kek ni teringat lagu She Bangs! tu je sebenarnyer.. Vanilla choc chips cake for my cousin Amira, on her 14th birthday. Happy birthday Adik, be a good girl ok! :)

My neighbor Kak Mas asked me to bake choc moist cake for her youngest Nini (Kak Mas has 6 kids!), on her 4th birthday. I layered the cake with choc buttercream and covered with choc ganache. puasla menjilat jari budak2 tu.. :)

Made about 64 pcs for my cousin and about 66 odd pcs for my friend Yatok. She ordered these for a farewell party at her office. Thanks Yatok!

Happy 7th Birthday Imran!

Seven years ago... I gave birth to him struggling between life and death, both of us. It was a premature birth, my bp shoot up as high as 210/140.. my nose was bleeding, my eyesight dah kabur.. ( mula2 tak sedar tapi bila tengok jam dlm bilik ICU tu dah tak nampak, alamak, kenapa ni? doktor, saya tak nampak!!!).... I had preeclampsia, that's what they called it. There was a big possibility for me to have stroke as a result of the eclampsia, so before anything worse happened, they rushed me into the OT coz his heartbeat was weak...

He came out screaming his lung out crying! Weighing just 1.3kg, he was healthy, but too small, weak and very prone to infections. He stayed in the incubator for 14 days, I took care of him for 36 days in the hospital before he was allowed to go back. Yup, takde pantang pun.. and he was my first, I had zero experience in handling babies.. I dont know how to bathe him, I dont even know that nappies have a convienient sticker at both sides!

Look at him now... blowing his number 7 candles.. Alhamdulillah... my precious little Imran, you will grow up to be a good man.

He was really excited to have his friends come over.. he wanted a choc cake with his fav Naruto on it.. so I ordered the edible image.. he never see it until his birthday, so he was pretty surprised by the cake.. he loved it! and he also requested for strawberry cupcakes.. nasib baik baru balik from Cameron, so borongla strawberry from there :)

Alrite.. anything for you my dear boy. I can't believe he's 7, healthy and smart.. and also an origami fanatic! He will do origami anywhere, believe me. Even while waiting for our turn at the clinic, he'll fold the waiting ticket into tiny fighter jet and play with it. He was born 1.3kg, just as small as my palm, struggling to breathe and drink in his incubator.. now.. look at him!

The title above is not my line. It's Nanie's email subject sent to me after she got her cake from me ;) Alhamdulillah...

1st birthday is so special coz it's.. a first one! It's an honor to do someone's 1st birthday cake.. a little child celebrating his/her very first birthday! There's something magical about that, don't u think so?

I seldom accept orders for big cakes.. coz err.. I actually don't have the right tools to do a big cake like this. I was struggling to make the icing neat and flat.. I was struggling to cover the cake properly... I don't have a rotating table to work on every side of the cake with ease! Banyak kali reject, pusing kut sini, terkena belah sana.. pusing kut sana, terkena kat sini.... haha, I was so not ready!

But the thought of doing a cake for a little girl made me excited, so I accepted the challege. Nanie asked for Red Velvet with buttercream topping. Can't be with cream cheese and whipped cream topping coz I dont have a proper place to keep in my office and the topping will surely melt away in no time. Buttercream is better.. it holds up nicely plus I can do some decorations using buttercream.. so, she agreed with Red Velvet with buttercream topping.. :D

Thanks Hernanie from SUK, whom building was shaken 2 times yesterday in between this cake! Nice meeting you, and see you again this Friday for your other order. If you do have the sliced version of this cake, would u kindly send a photo to me, so I can share it here? And also the birthday girl of course! Cik Puan Afrin Hana ni.. hihi...
